Phased Classroom Renovation

The district is proud to launch the Phased Classroom Renovation Project to enhance learning environments for students and staff across the district.

The project highlights the district’s commitment to enhancing its current facilities, emphasizing a focus on facility improvements rather than school consolidation. This decision celebrates what makes our district unique—our small, close-knit school communities.

With funds intentionally set aside for the project, careful and intentional financial planning has made it possible to support these improvements without requiring a ballot measure.

EAST HOLMES LOCAL SCHOOLS ANNOUNCES PHASED CLASSROOM RENOVATION PROJECT SCOPE AND TIMELINE

March 24, 2025

The Phased Classroom Renovation Project is moving forward, with work beginning this summer at Mt. Hope and Winesburg. These updates will enhance learning spaces while maintaining the small school feel our community values.

Renovations will begin at Mt. Hope and Winesburg at the beginning of summer break and are scheduled to be completed before school starts. The project will continue each summer during school breaks to update the remaining schools with minimal disruption. In Summer 2026, renovations will occur at Berlin and Chestnut Ridge and begin at Hiland. In Summer 2027, updates will focus on Walnut Creek, Flat Ridge, and Wise and continue at Hiland. The final phase in Summer 2028 will complete renovations at Hiland.

Upgrades will include new rubber flooring, fresh paint, improved lighting, magnetic whiteboards and bulletin boards, and modern furniture designed to enhance safety, engagement, and functionality in our learning environments.

We are grateful to the East Holmes community for supporting the school district through local real estate taxes, which enables the district to engage in proactive financial planning. This project is fully funded by the district and does not require a new ballot measure.

"These renovations reflect our commitment to ensuring high-quality learning environments for both our students and staff while being responsible stewards of district resources," said Board President Julia Klink. "We are excited to see these improvements come to life and appreciate the community’s continued support."
