The spirit of the season came alive at Berlin School as first-grade teachers Mrs. Mullet, Mrs. Weaver, and Mrs. Megan Mullet joined forces with Mr. Hoxworth, Mrs. Gingerich, and Mrs. Hershberger to create a magical experience for their students with a special program called “Christmas Around the World.”
The collaborative effort aimed to teach students about the diverse ways people celebrate Christmas across the globe. The team of dedicated educators carefully planned engaging activities, stories, and crafts to bring global traditions to life in the classroom. Each teacher took the students on an imaginative journey, exploring different countries and their unique holiday customs.
Students had the opportunity to learn about Germany’s Christmas markets, the tradition of the piñata in Mexico, the festive St. Lucia’s Day in Sweden, and many more. With each stop on their global adventure, students gained a deeper understanding of how cultures around the world celebrate this special time of year.
The students were engaged and excited as they stamped their "holiday passports" and immersed themselves in each new culture. The smiles and laughter throughout the classrooms reflected the joy of the season and the success of this creative, cross-curricular learning experience.
Thanks to the hard work and creativity of Mrs. Mullet, Mrs. Weaver, Mrs. Megan Mullet, Mr. Hoxworth, Mrs. Gingerich, and Mrs. Hershberger, Christmas Around the World was a heartwarming success and a lesson the students won’t soon forget.
